History of the Temple
History of the temple says that Angarahan, Lord Sevvai (Planet Mars) once dipped in the holy pond (Punniya Theertham) and worshipped the God, Vaithiyanathaswamy of this temple to get recovered from His disease, leprosy. Sage Sadhanandhar got disturbed during his meditation by a snake while it was swallowing a frog. So out of an anger the sage cursed both the snake and frog to get rid of the pond forever. Therefore till date there is no snake or frog found in the pond. Monumental Tree (Sthala Virutcham): Neem Tree
Special about the Tree: In past, the sthala virutcham, Neem Tree was called Markosa. The Neem Tree is found in the Eastern side of the temple. It is an overall faith that the sound of leaves goes as a musician in the entire temple premise to heal the diseases of the devotees whoever comes to worship Vaithiyanadha swamy in the temple. The same Neem Tree in the Kredha Yuha was called Kadambha Tree, in Thredha Yuha it was known as Vilva maram, in Dhuvabhara Yuha it was addressed as Mahizhambu Tree, and finally in the Kali Yuha it is called Veppamaram (Neem Tree).
The Prasadham (Sandhu Urundai) of the temple has the power to heal all the diseases of the devotees during their worshipping of God and Goddess, Vaithiyanadha swamy and Thaiyalnayaki respectively.
Speciality about the temple is it Dheertham, God and the significance of the place. It is believed that the Vaithiyanadhaswamy Amirdha Sanjeevi Vilvathadi soil cures/heals some 4,480 diseases. Through the grace of Goddess Thaiyalnayaki and God, Vaithiyanadhaswamy, the holy oil along with the soil as prasadam from the temple goes as a powerful medicine for many diseases and even it is a faith that the prasadam cures all types of lumps. Day by day, the fame of the temple reaches broadly everywhere to bring people from all part of the world which to result in a big crowd in the temple premise all days.

and Thaiyalnayaki Amman koil (Temple of Goddess Thaiyalnayaki)
Jadayu Kundam
Jadayu Kundam (Jadayu, a character in Ramayana) is seen in Utharpradesh. According to the scripture, when Ravana was passing this particular place with (Kidnapping) Seethadevi, Jadayu fought with him to save Seethadevi from him but Ravana cut his two wings. So, the wounded body has fallen down at this place. Hence, this place is called as Jadayupuri.
It is told that Lord Muruga (Karthikeyan) worshipped God Shiva at this temple and got the weapon to defeat the demon, Soorabathman here.
Lord Muruha of this temple blesses his devotees with the name Selvamuthu Kumaraswamy who attracts devotees from every corner of the world.
Pooja and Temple festivals
Karthiha Natchathra day (in reference to Tamil calendar) of every month is special here. On that day, the sandhana (Sandal bath given to Lord) abisheham to Lord Muruha happens and the sandal water goes as prasadam to cure/heal diseases of his devotees. Being Sevvai Dhosha Parihar Sthalam, it has been a custom here that every Tuesday Lord Angarahan on a sheep comes around the four streets of the temple.
Place of worship
People in and around the temple use to bring their children to tonsure for the first time in the temple. It is also going on for years in this temple as its custom and belief. Devotees offer stone salt and pepper here in the temple for recovery from diseases, specifically certain type of pimple in skin.

It is believed that the visit to this temple brings cure to disease of all three parts of a human system, soul, body, and heart respectively.
Fame of the temple
Another speciality of this Temple is Angaraha, (Mars). It has a separate sannathi for him. Three deities, namely Goddess Thaiyalnayaki, Lord Angaraha, and Lord Muruga are blessing their devotees from the temple is yet another uniqueness of it. God and Goddess in the temple begin their duty only after the Arthasama Pooja (Pooja in the midnight) of Lord Selvamuthukumara samy. It is also a strong faith of its devotees here.
Devotees throw jaggery and salt in to the holy pond with the faith that the disease of the devotees also get dissolves as the things thrown inside the water.
