The worship in the Temple heals diseases such as leprosy, Fever and Skin diseases. This temple is a Kedu Dhosa Nivarthi Sthala.

History of the Temple: Lord Mahavishnu in the form of Mohini was distributing the Elixir to both Devas and Asuras (Demons). While giving, Maha vishnu had a plan of giving the Elixir only to Devas. By understanding the plan, one Asura (Demon) named Rahu disguised himself as Deva and got the Elixir before Lord Sun and Lord Chandran inform this to Lord Mahavishnu. After realization, Lord Mahavishnu cut off the head of Asura through Sudharshana Chakra (Demon) and Rahu stopped consuming the Elixir with His weapon. But already Demon Rahu attained immortality through his tasting of Elixir as Devas. Therefore, the separated head became Rahu, and the body became Kedu. The separated head of Rahu had fallen in Kerala. It is believed that a Brahmin called, Mini brought up Rahu who got to know the story behind his through the Brahmin to take revenge on both Lord Chandra and Lord Sun. In this process of revenge taking when darkish Rahu possess Lord Chandran, we witness lunar eclipse and when Kedu in the form of Snake catches hold of Lord Sun, we witness Solar eclipse. Kedu through the blessings of Lord Shiva got the vehemence to be considered as a Planet (Graha) with its due divinity whereas Rahu, in the form of snake appears with a firing/burning head. The name of his wife is Chandralekha. Appar and Thirugnanasambhandar recited songs on the God of this temple.

Speciality about this Temple: Lord Kedu has a temple of His own here. It is special because he is now here found in a separate temple. Abhisheham with milk to Lord Kedu during the time of Rahu (Rahu kalam) goes on daily base here. Those who are with Kedu Dhosha come to this temple to worship both Lord Naganadhar and Lord Kedu for their Dhosha Nivarthi. People who worship in this temple get blessings to have marriage, child birth and good fortune in life.

The divine words of Maha Shiva Nadi too directs its people for their Kedu Dhosha Nivarthi to this temple.
