Who Is Guruji Dr. A. Sivasamy

Dr. A. Sivasamy is a historian, researcher, Mahasiva Nadi Astrologer, and spiritual counsellor who has dedicated his life to the study and preservation of Tamil literature, cultural heritage, and the ancient tradition of olai chuvadi (palm-leaf manuscripts).

He began his spiritual mission at just 18 years of age and now carries over 40 years of experience as the Chief Nadi Astrologer of Sri Mahasivanadi. He is a 4th generation Nadi Astrologer from the legendary Arul Siva Arumugunar family of Vaitheeswaran Koil, with his sons Mr. Prabhaharan (M.Des.), Mr. Indrajith (M.B.A.), and daughter Mrs. Iswariya (M.Sc. Psy.) carrying the tradition forward as the 5th generation. His family has practised Nadi Astrology continuously for over 250 years, making Vaitheeswarankoil the world headquarters of authentic Nadi Astrology.

He holds his doctoral degree from Annamalai University, where his research examined the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple under Vijayanagara Rule.

Literary Contributions

Alongside his work as a Nadi Astrologer, Dr. A. Sivasamy is a published author and translator who has devoted himself to bringing timeless Tamil literature to a wider, modern readership — particularly the younger generation.

Avvaiyar’s Aathichudi and Kondrai Vendhan: He has set both of these classical moral-teaching texts to music, presenting them in a form that is easy for young learners to grasp and retain.

Thirukkural — A World First: Dr. Sivasamy has authored what is presented as the world’s first Thirukkural publication to combine the couplets of Thiruvalluvar with divine guidance (Aroodam Jothidam) drawn directly from olai chuvadi.

The work has been recognised and praised by figures including the 27th Guru Mahasannidhanam of the Dharmapuram Aadheenam, Srila Sri Masilamani Desika Gnanasambandha Paramacharya Swamigal, along with the Vice-Chancellors of Thanjavur Tamil University, Thiruvalluvar University (Vellore), and Annamalai University. The book also draws out a documented connection between the Sri Ranganathar temple of Srirangam, the Tamil language, and the Thirukkural itself.

Written with explanations accessible to every generation — and mindful of how today’s youth engage with knowledge through phones and social media — the book is intended as a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern life.
